SPORTS YOKOHAMA Vol.35:Feature(3/3)
Yokohama City Walk marks its 23rd anniversary this year. With the starting and finishing points both located at Bashamichi Station on the Minato-mirai Line, this year’s event features a route starting in Naka Ward, going through Minami, Isogo and Kanazawa Wards and ending in Konan Ward. Participants will walk toward the goal, passing each check point along the way. Novices and seasoned walkers alike are guaranteed to enjoy the city of Yokohama to the fullest, as they are allowed to stop off anywhere they like on their way to the goal. The Sankeien Garden is famous for offering beautiful sceneries throughout the four seasons in harmony with its historic buildings.
Participants in Yokohama City Walk can enter the garden without paying admission.
Check pointTakigashira Hall
The hall, which regularly hosts various events such as concerts and lecture meetings, will be opened for participants to rest. Feel free to drop by and take a break.
Visits to the locations relation to Tenshin Okakura born 150 years ago
Tenshin Okakura left a major mark in the history of art of modern Japan. Yokohama, the birthplace of Okakura, has a host of monuments that were built in commemoration of his achievements. To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Tenshin Okakura, Students of Yokohama City University will serve as guides to show participants these monuments along the race route. Enjoy their brief guided tours.

”Sawayaka” Sports Festival
In the festival square of Yamashita Park, a number of events will be held, including hands-on lessons of ground golf (50 yen), posture assessment (1,000 yen) and clinic service provided by dispatched staff of the Yokohama Sports Medical Center (free).
